For our second official ride of 2024 we are going to keep it conveniently located due to the weather, but I think you'll love the food at this easily accessible small town restaurant. Although it is a BBQ restaurant (and it is fantastic) they have an extensive menu of burgers, sandwiches, salads and numerous Mac 'n Cheese options as well as dessert items.

In fact, it is Burger and Wings Wednesday and their burgers are $6.00 and wings are $.85 each if you'd rather go that route instead of their great BBQ!

Not only is the food delish, but you also get to enjoy the wonderful small town ambiance of Eudora, the lovely Kaw River valley and the adjacent scenic campus of Eudora Elementary School. Located on old K10 on the east side of Eudora, this nicely remodeled family friendly restaurant is located in what was known in the 90's as the Gilded Cage Saloon. For those of you who don't remember, the Gilded Cage was a great place to go if you wanted to get into a bar fight and didn't have much time to find one! But that's all changed 30 years later and about the biggest fight you're going to find here today is which is best, the regular or spicy homemade barbecue sauce.

So regardless of the weather, which right now looks a little iffy, load up and head out and join us for a great lunch and what is always guaranteed to be a stimulating lunch conversation. Remember, they don't open until 11:00 so if you get there early be prepared to sit outside and chat!

Well I can't say that it was a perfect day to RIDE motorcycles but it was a darn decent day to be part of a motorcycle group like ROMEO! It was a nice sunny day and if it weren't for the aftermath of a 6" snowstorm that pretty much covered the entire area it would have been a great day to ride. But the patchy snow-covered streets and melting/refreezing that left the occasional slick spot made attending lunch today in a cage the prudent choice.

And 15 ROMEOS made that very decision so we had a pretty nice gathering today in spite of the slick streets. The Burgers and Wings special attracted a lot attention and I don't think anyone left disappointed. The food here is exceptional and we'll have to schedule this one again on a nice weather day so we can pair the great eats with a nice ride.

While I'll be out of town next week, Al should be back in the saddle to plan the next week's lunch destination.
