TRADITIONAL POLAR BEAR RIDE: “NEW YEAR’S DAY” For all ROMEOS across all forums old or young, retired or not. We don’t want to count anyone out … everyone is welcome. May I suggest that this is not a ride for the faint-hearted, but the requirements are quite simple. If you can “put one foot in front of the other with little or no effort” and you are able to mount your trusty stead, you are eligible. One last resort is to come in your 4-wheeler or the “CAGE” (better known as a car).

The long-range weather is forecasting a high of 40º. We’ll see if that holds, and if so, “Not bad for a January day!” If you don’t already have a place to go, come one, come all, and join in celebrating the 1st day of the year and our first ROMEO RIDE for 2024.

HERE’S THE SCOOP: Many of you are familiar with the Green Acres Family Restaurant, Vassar, KS. It is one of our favorites. It is the one and only cafe located near the Pomona Dam on Ks. Hwy 268. The cafe has graciously reserved their back room just for us. This is a Breakfast or lunch ride, so come early or late as you wish, it won’t matter the time. Just come and enjoy the day! It was a brisk ride this morning but very invigorating! No snow, no sleet, or sub-below temperatures for all of us who gathered this “New Year’s Day.”

When I first arrived there were already three early birds who were ahead of me. For a while we all wondered if we might be the only four showing up for the day. But it turned out as the morning progressed, others started sprinkling in to keep us company.

We missed all of you who couldn’t make it. I do understand the many busy schedules during this time of the year and how one cannot be everywhere at one time. But I do hope everyone had as good a time as we did today bringing in the new year and starting another terrific year of riding together! I wish you all a “HAPPY NEW YEAR” and hope to see everyone again at our next round up!
