FEBRUARY 1ST, LUNCH ONLY, 11 AM, JOHNNY’S TAVERN WEST, LAWRENCE, KS‬

Post by Al Hayes »

I can’t remember the last time the Romeo’s have been here, so I went back and looked at the archives and “Vah-Walla”, it’s been a long time since our last visit to Johnny’s Tavern in Lawrence. The archives have it recorded on February 2015 we were at Johnny’s Tavern North in Lawrence. This was the original Pub founded in 1953. Since then, it has become franchised and migrated to several locations throughout Ks. and Mo. It has been known as a “Lawrence Classic Pub” for years. We won’t be going to the original location but rather to the one on the west side of Lawrence. The temperature will be in the middle 30’s

As an aside I would like to express my thoughts on the subject of our current economy. With inflation causing higher prices and the dollar losing it’s value in purchasing power these days, it's getting harder and harder to find a place with breakfast or lunch that is under $12. I’ll do my best to keep finding places where their menus are reasonably priced for all of us. In the meantime, let’s stay positive and keep thanking the “Good Lord” that we are even able to afford it. I will always be open for any suggestions from each of you in finding places to ride that fit our pocketbooks.

That being said there is no breakfast here, but I think you will enjoy their lunch menu, food, and prices. “Happy Trails” to you all until we meet again!

Five bikes, not bad for a frosty February day! It took me a little longer than I had anticipated. I didn’t know exactly where to turn into the strip mall and ended up going around the block and came in from the back way. And then it was like a maze twisting and turning every which way looking for Johnny’s. Finally, after taking the scenic tour of the mall, “Vah-walla” there was my destination and I had arrived. I hadn’t been to this Johnny’s before. They opened the door early for those of us who arrived on two wheels early. I liked that! Well, again, it was good to see everybody and catching up on all the untold stories. Here are the photos that will give evidence to our assembling and documents our history.
