I just received word that Joey Herrman, the son of Dave and Charlotte Herrman passed away on January second. Joey was a fine outgoing man of whom his parents can be very proud. I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to Dave and Charlotte for their devastating loss.

Here is Joey's obituary copied from the Salina post.

Joey David Herrman, of Salina, KS, was born to David and Charlotte (Strecker) Herrman on January 19, 1974. He passed away on January 2, 2023, while deer hunting, which was a favorite pastime of his.

Joey graduated from Salina South High School in 1992. He entered the military after high school and served in the United States Marine Corp. from June 16, 1992-January 1, 2001. After his military discharge, he finished his welding education at Salina Vo-Tech in 2001.

During his 8 ½ years of service, Joey was stationed at MCRD San Diego for boot camp, Camp Pendleton, Okinawa, Japan, Aberdeen, MD Proving Grounds and Marine Corp Reserve Center in Omaha, NE. During Joey’s first tour, he was in Transportation which involved loading and unloading planes, trains and trucks. At the conclusion of this tour during his discharge physical, the nurse informed him that his next orders were to go to Aberdeen, MD Proving Grounds for Welding School. When he learned this, he halted all discharge progress and began his second tour as this had always been his dream job. Joey used his skills obtained in the military as a welder for multiple companies with his last stop being at Great Plains Manufacturing in Salina, KS.

He was extremely proud of his military service and was an active member of the American Legion and the American Legion Riders, Chapter 62. Joey was also a member of the Marine Corp League. Joey was also an active parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann-Seton Catholic Church of Salina and member of the Knights of Columbus Council #10778.

Joey is survived by his parents David and Charlotte of Salina; Anthony (Tony) and fiancé Nicki Rager of Lincoln, NE; Andrea (Biggs) and husband Will of Gardner, KS; two nephews, Gabriel and Elijah; and many family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church or Ottawa County Health Center.
