South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, October 26, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

Charlie suggested returning to the Barn before the weather turned cold; I think he's jonsin' for some chicken fried steak. The food and service are good, and we've always enjoyed our visits there, so it makes perfect sense to me. The aforementioned chicken fried steak is the big draw at the Barn but they also have great chicken, burgers, and salads. I've never had a bad meal there. Everyone should find something suitable for lunch.

It looks like next Wednesday will be a good day to ride; perhaps a bit chilly to start out, but no worse than last week. We all have four wheeled vehicles if it's really bad, and Burrton is close enough (forty miles from Wichita) that a ride in the car isn't a deterrent.

By the way: if you have a favorite spot that we haven't visited in a while, let me or Charlie know. (He's going to be scheduling next week while I'm riding the Texas Hill Country.) I usually move us north-south-east-west for a little variety, but we can get something worked into the schedule if you speak up.

The Barn allowed us in early today. They served off the menu and offered a special as well. All good food, as usual 100% top notch in all regards.

We had 18 ROMEO's today. Total ROMEO one way miles was 706 miles. We had 16 arrive on 15 bikes, and two arrived in a Ford Pickup. Weather was chilly early, but sunny and no wind to mention. Great clear day for the ride home. Most riders rolled over 50 miles. Biker Bob Schaefer pound down 67 miles to be long distance one way rider.

We become aware today that Floyd Beck has passed away. Floyd was a great friend to many of us. See last photo. We know he will RIP -

So sorry to hear about Floyd's passing. He was the first to greet and welcome me to ROMEO nearly 10 years ago. A friendly smile that dearly will be missed.
