The weather looks like it’s going to be a little cooler but yet just right for a nice “Fall Ride”. I see that it’s calling for a high of 68 degrees. I’m thinking lets go south for a change of scenery and do lunch. I don’t think we have been to this one as a group ever. It is relatively new and has only been in existence for a few months in Iola, Ks. I’ve talked with Tina (the owner) and she agreed to open at 10:30 am just for us.
So, get ready for another adventure and interesting place to ride. If you have been to SHARKY’S in Fort Scott, Ks, then you already know what to expect when going to this place in Iola. It’s brand new to the community and had only been open five days before I ate there. Tina tells me that their special for Wednesday is the “Chicken Bowl” for $9.00. It was a pleasure tasting their Friday special, fish & fries. Their batter was deliciously seasoned (not bad for one who has never been a real avid fish lover)! While scanning their menu I saw the “Elvis” burger and was told that it is amazing. But then don’t take my word for it … all I can say is try it! Let me know if you like it.

What a day we had for our first “Polar Bear Ride” for the season. It was chilly but with appropriate riding gear it was doable. It turned out to be a gorgeous day after lunch to ride. Many of us were having troubles getting our GPS’ to find Sharky’s in Iola. It either directed us to Fort Scott or said it couldn’t find Sharky’s and try again. So, instead of having google looking for Sharky’s, I used just the address in Iola alone and it found it. I told the manager about our difficulties with “Maps”, she said she would let the owners know about it. Then after testing it again this morning successfully, I’m assuming it has been corrected or resolved.
We had a good gathering considering the conditions with the early morning freeze. Everyone seemed to be right at home with Sharky’s. Good food and good service. I was having so much fun I almost forgot to take some photos. You will notice from the photos a few of us were enjoying the sun on the patio out front on the sidewalk. The sun felt good as well as the 50 degrees heading home!
There was some more discussion as to the T-Shirt project. Brad Schoen, who has been elected as our point man, shared with us his findings on a T-Shirt place located in Manhattan, Ks. This place has a WEB SITE to order from. It looks really promising for quick and easy online ordering. Brad will be taking a group order for the Eastern Kansas GRP at our next Wednesday ride. This will save us the shipping costs ($6 to $7) if you ordered it online.
