South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, June 8, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

The weather forecasts seem a bit mixed: one shows cloudy and dry Wednesday, the other shows a good chance for thunderstorms. I'm going to split the difference and keep us in fairly close, heading to Conway Springs.

It's been years since we visited the Stock Tank; it may have been before I started scheduling rides. The menu includes burgers, sandwiches, Mexican food, and salads. I had a pretty good Sunday breakfast there recently (they only open for breakfast on Sundays.) The place is clean and the staff is friendly. There are daily lunch specials: a club sandwich with fries on Wednesdays. They don't open until 11:00, so there's not much need to arrive early.

Fifth Street (also known as K-49) is the main north/south drag through Conway Springs. Spring Street is a couple of blocks south of the Casey's, with the Stock Tank just east of Fifth Street. It's fewer than thirty miles from Wichita (via K-42 and K-49,) probably less for the Derby/Mulvane crew coming in on the southerly route. It's a bit over a half hour if you're observing the speed limits. Close enough if it rains, yet a good basis for a longer ride home.

We'll be starting breakfast rides next month. Let me know if you have a favorite place we need to visit, or if you have a suggestion for a new destination..

I believe that all who attended today will agree that The Stock Tank Bar and Grill is a winner! Great food and plenty of attention to us as we enjoyed the meal. The atmosphere of the Stock Tank was pleasant and friendly. 100% spot on in all regards. We will be going back, join next time if you missed today, you will be pleased too.

We had 15 ROMEO riders today, 13 rode in on two wheels and 2 drove in pickup trucks. The bikes rolled a total of 478 miles to the Stock Tank and possibly the same on return home. Moundridge Ron kicked in 60 miles on his Harley to be long distance rider. All riders rode 30 to 40 miles one way to enjoy the meal and comradery.

Thanks for attending. See you next week. Photos below

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
