South Central Lunch: Wednesday, March 2, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

It should be a bit warmer next Wednesday, so we'll head a few miles out of town for lunch at the Benton Airport. Stearman Field is about twenty miles from Wichita; the food's good, there's plenty of room, and there's a nice view from the south dining room. Ride or drive, based on the weather and your inclination Wednesday morning.

Stearman Field has burgers, salads, and sandwiches, in addition to pizza and some other menu items. (I usually get the Ruben sandwich with a side salad, but the pizza looks interesting.)

As usual, we'll be in the south patio room, which has plenty of space in case we want to hang around and shoot the bull after lunch. It's also a good place to watch takeoffs and landings, if there's any aircraft activity. Also, a reminder: Stearman Field normally adds the tip automatically for groups our size (but not always,) so check your ticket.

We'll be into better riding weather soon, and I've had a couple of suggestions for new places in Inman and Gypsum (thanks to Kathryn and Charlie.) If you have a place you'd like us to visit, let me know and I'll try to work it into the schedule.

Awesome: To have a warm bike riding day in very early March, tasty food, airplanes above and friends to visit with!! Can't get better, I say.

We had 28 ROMEO's join at the Stearman Field Restaurant today. Two arrived in pickup trucks and 26 arrived on 25 motorcycles. Total motorcycle mileage today was 729 total. I am sure that most riders were like me and rolled a bunch more miles going home. No wind to speak of and 81* warm, wow, can't beat that on an early March day. The 3 riders from Arkansas City were long range rollers at 68 miles each! Heck yeah! Don from Wichita will get the wimpy award at only 10 miles, from Wichita - while most Wichita riders were in the mid 25 miles ride.

See the photos below, several or more. Lets do it again next week..

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
