Vintage motorcycle Repair
Does anyone know of a person who works on vintage Harley's? Someone who is either retired and works on them on the side. I have a 1930 Harley 45DL that I'm trying to restore. Steven Allen/Wichita...316-721-0913

You might talk to the guys at the motorcycle museum in Augusta. They may be aware of someone who could be of assistance. Having someone else do restoration work is going to be expensive. When I did my '73 CL350 (horse of a different color, I realize,) my riding buddy and I did all the work ourselves. It's a learning experience, but satisfying to know that you've done it yourself.

That's a great thought. I'll give them a call, can't hurt. Thanks

The Topeka Harley shop has a restoration shop in it, I think Yesterday Cycles is the name of it. Dave Larson does most of the work and he is good. Phone there is 785-234-6174.

I would suggest checking through the antique motorcycle club of america facebook group, also there are a few other early HD Facebook groups. You will get multiple inputs on almost anything, including repair/restoration facilities. Good luck.

That Harley flathead "45" was a real workhorse engine and later was used in the servicar. We ran in to a guy from Indiana at the Potosi rally last weekend that rode his 1939 flathead 300 miles (at 50-55 mph) with no problems. Not a restored to stock bike, but still a very high nifty and lots of determination and a love of old iron:

Dave Baumgartner at 81 Kustom on North Broadway (6300 S Kansas, Newton,Ks) is going to do the work. I've had him to a few other things for me. Great guy and honest. He specializes in Harley's, so anybody who lives up that way; check him out. Steve
