Romeo lunch September 2016

Post by Alb1on »

Dear American Romeos

We met up again at Wesson's Cafe http://wessonscafe.com/ at Horam in East Sussex on September 15th as the weather has been stunning lately and everyone was busy in the summer so no Romeos then. Wesson's Cafe used to be called Ogri's cafe until Ogri's creator Paul Sample asked them to change the name but allowed them to keep his artwork on the walls and we have included some in the photos. Ogri is a British biker from the 1950s and 1960s who has a winged helmet, a dog called Kickstart and a very impressionable friend called Malcolm. He resides in the pages of "Bike" magazine in cartoon form and one of my crash helmets has graphics from the magazine.

While we were there I managed to fall in love with the Honda "Grom" which sounds like something out of "Lord of the Rings" but is a fantastic 125cc town bike. See what you think.

The cafe sells very hearty food, giant cups of tea known as "builders' tea" which is very strong and dark brown and enables builders to keep working for long periods of time, which make up for the lengths of the tea breaks they take!!!

Spoilt for choice, all the pastries and cakes are home made - yum!

We had a great ride down through Surrey and Sussex through the Downs and Ashdown Forest where Winne the Pooh lived and King Alfred fought the Danes. All in all a great day out....

Regards
