A place to list other riding events. Anyone is welcome to announce any kind of group ride - whether it is for just a handful of riders or for a major event.
OK all you happy campers--it's fast approaching the time for our 4th annual "Fools" campout. This year the date is one week later ( April 20th & 21st), but at the same location, Outlet park area of Pomme de Terre lake in Mo.
Just bring whatever you want to cook over the fire pit, and there are plenty of stores in the area to buy tube steaks or even real steaks. GPS co-ordinates are N 37 54.390 and W 93 19.918. Here's a link to the site: http://lodging.uptake.com/camping/misso ... 20797.html Our resident scout and organizer even researched a nice motel: contactus@clearlightinn.com for those virtual campers that prefer room service. See you all there! Forgot: Phone # of motel: 417 745 2500

A day of riding in the rain last year made Walt insisted that we (Walt, Ken and I get motel rooms (NOTE ROOMS)) while the other real men camped in the cold rain. This is a small casual campout with lots of BS around the camp fire (After all, Bucky and Ken usually attend) Anyway, figure out what you want to cook on the campfire and mark it on your calendar.
I don't know about you guys--but I'll be cooking a big bass. I am bringing my wal-mart popiel pocket fisherman. Not sure though as Terry said "Pomme de Terre" translates from french to "Lake with no fish" We will see

Are you suggesting that Ken or Bucky would be anything but serious and business like?

Bob K. wrote:Planning on coming down, (riding in from Claycomo) camping not motel, do I need to do something or just show up with my tube steaks?
I'm bringing some exendable campfire forks--the pit there has a flip over grate and Terry has a friend that lives there and has some firewood, or we can chip in and buy some. The convenience stores close by probably have anything you may forget. It is going to dry out by then and be perfect camping weather.

This is a fun campout without any real structure. We set up camp, ride wherever you like whenever you like, eat in camp, eat on a ride and maybe even have a favorite beverage. The campground has a shelter and a grill, with showers nearby, as you would expect with such a campground. There is a convenience store within a mile, and a couple of diner/cafe places not too far away. Motels are also nearby for those so inclined. If you like structure, this may not be the ride for you. If you enjoy laid back do what you want when you want type activity, or do nothing at all, this may be for you. Hope you will give it a try. If not, that's ok too. But in any case, ride safely!
Hoser...........Glad you made it back ok. Yes it was a little cold Friday night. Saturday night it warmed up good. Some more people showed up Sat so we did it all again.
Terry and Leo......sure am glad you guys put this on. Really enjoyed myself. THANKS
Bucky
OK--the 4th FOOLS was a great success. Thanks to Tom and Terry for doing all the set up, firewood, coffee etc. Our largest turnout so far, but the campground will hold 100--who knows, maybe it will grow. Thanks for your pix Hoser. I took a few, but they are on a link to my Picasa web album: https://picasaweb.google.com/LeoD43/Foo ... directlink

Hoser, the gal at Alani we talked to on Sun told us about a young girl and a guy who rolled off the road. Both sounded to be doing well. The accident happened Fri afternoon, may have been the one you happened upon.
Leo and Terry, thanks for setting up the Fools 2012! Except for the 35 degree temp Sat morning, and frost in the tent, everything was great. And, we had some new attendees. Great job.
Hoser and Bob K:
Thanks for taking and posting the pictures. I am sorry I wasn't able to make the Camp out but with your pictures and comments I felt like I was there. I know other guys feel the same way. Even with a "little" bad weather, I can see you had a great time. I WILL make it next year.
We had a great ride around the perimeter of Texas and I suggest the ride to everyone. The best road I have ever ridden is Highway 170 from Big Bend National Park to Presidio, TX. If you get totally board here is a link to Missy's pictures
