Post by shoresr »

It looks like Tuesday may be one of the best days to ride next week. So let's try to take advantage of the good weather and have some fun.

If you missed the ROMEO Spring Rendezvous in Eureka Springs, AR or were in attendance Bob K. and Harley Charlie have provided us with some really great pictures. It is obvious that the rain didn't dampen anyone's spirits.

Here is a link to Bob K.'s pictures. It starts out with last year's pictures and ends up with this year's pictures. When it rained someone arranged for a trolley to take everyone downtown. How special is that. Great to see all the ladies!!

I want to thank Bob and Harley Charlie for taking and posting the pictures. I was unable to go to the rendezvous and I really enjoyed seeing the pictures. It is the closest thing to being there.

In case you don't know BUCKY, he has organized the Spring Rendezvous for many years. We don't say thank you near as much as we should.
BUCKY, thank you for all the time and effort you put into making this such a great event. It is obvious everyone had a great time even with the rain.

I have setup things for ROMEOs and it is the GREAT ROMEO FRIENDS who come to the events that inspires us all. I am always PROUD TO BE A ROMEO.

2017 FALL ROMEO Rendezvous: September 12 & 13

I'm sure by now that everyone is aware of Shirley Wege's health concerns. The good news is that she's on the mend; the bad news is that she and Junior won't be able to organize the fall rendezvous this year.

The ride coordinators decided (and it seems everyone agrees with us...) that we shouldn't let this event fall by the wayside. Shirley and Junior are a tough act to follow, but we'll still have our modest version of the fall gathering this year.

The Fall Rendezvous will take place on Tuesday, September 12 and Wednesday, September 13 at the Hub, just south of Harrison, Arkansas. (Technically it's in Marble Falls, I believe.) Rooms for one or two people are $55 plus tax per night. You can make your reservations any time now, by calling Debbie at (870) 743-4062.

For those who arrive Monday evening, we can have pizza delivered to The Hub.

Scooter's Restaurant (at The Hub) will be open for breakfast at 6:30 on Tuesday
Tuesday is riding wherever and with whoever you wish.
Scooters will be open for dinner Tuesday evening, followed by a bonfire if we wish.

Scooter's will open for breakfast at 6:30 on Wednesday.
More riding, on your own or in small groups during the day.
We'll have a banquet in the big meeting room adjacent to Scooters Wednesday evening.

Scooter's will be open for breakfast at 6:30 on Thursday, before we head home.

Here's a link to The Hub's web page. It's probably the best place in Arkansas to ride from: plenty of good roads in every direction, they cater to motorcyclists, and the folks are great. If you've been to the Fall Rendezvous before, you know; if not, you really ought to come this year.

A great day. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I have no idea how many were there, but my guess is somewhere betwee 50 and 100. That ought to catch it  Whatever the number was, it was big and Dino's did a good job and so was the food. I was surprised at how many showed up. I know that from Butler it is a long way to Cameron  But the weather cooperated and it was a good day to ride. I stopped by Shatto Dairy and they said around 15 had stopped for ice cream. While I was there the Wild Guys from Gardner sped past and never saw me. They might have missed the sign and some good ice cream.

Thanks for all the concern about our water damage. It is bad, but our insurance company American Family and Service Master of Gladstone have made it quite bearable. We have not had to "lift a finger". We are now dry, but the damage is so extensive that they are putting us in temporary housing for 4 months. :o

I was so happy to see everyone and visit that I asked Bob to take some pictures for me. NOT OF ME  He takes better pictures that I do anyway. Great to be back, great to see all my Romeos Friends. Ride Safe.

The weather Friday looks good and Southeastern Kansas is meeting right down 69 in LaCygne. Plan on joining them.

Really feeling sorry for all the damage the floods have and are causing to the south and east. Big crowd today, so good to see Roger back, it will be a long process, but he's getting water damages that happened while he was gone fixed. Glad to see he is in good spirits considering the loss, I think we helped with that! Service was second to none, I saw more than one waitress and the hostess running to get food and drink. A few school buses at Shatto Dairy but the kids hadn't eaten all the ice cream.
