South Central Lunch: Wednesday, December 20, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

It it looks like it's going to be cool again next Wednesday; not “polar bears roaming the streets” cold, but still “don't ride a hundred miles” cool. Suppesville is a little under thirty miles from Wichita, a pretty good cold weather destination. The Suppesville Cafe has a daily lunch special, sandwiches, and a nice little salad bar. They now serve breakfast all day, so there's no need to arrive early. The place is small, but we'll have room for our last day of fall attendance.

Suppesville is located on K-42, just east of the junction with K-2. The intersecting road is 375th West. The cafe is on the north side of K-42. If you’re from around here, you’ve always known the intersection as Suppesville, and have probably ridden past it dozens of times. The Post Office and the Garmin GPS think it's in Milton, but it's actually north of it. The cafe isn't real prominent; it's just east of the gas station, in the same building.

It looks like winter's coming (tomorrow, actually,) but it was still a decent day to ride; clouds started moving in as we ate, but nothing too damp on the way home. We really can't complain about fifty degrees on the twentieth of December.

We had nineteen people, on fifteen bikes, arrive in Suppesville. The bikes traveled a total of 613 miles, one way, to the Suppesville Cafe. The service was quick, and the food seemed pretty good. (Now that they serve breakfast all day we had a lot more choices.)

Charlie will have photos up soon, and I'll post our final ride of 2017 in a couple of days. It looks like we're headed into fairly cold weather, so maybe some place close in with good steaks...

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
