South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, November 29, 11;00 AM

Post by roginoz »

It's forecast to be borderline cold next Wednesday, but our resident photographer is jonesin' for some chicken livers; he asked how long it's been since we visited Jeri's, in Kingman, last week. It turns out that we haven't been there in over seven months. Next Wednesday looks like it might be tolerable for a forty mile ride (closer to fifty if you're in Mulvane, but that's the price of chicken livers...) Right now the forecast is calling for forty-eight at departure (10:00,) fifty at lunchtime (11:00,) and fifty-three when we head home at noon.

We'll be in the back meeting room, so check there when you arrive. Jeri's has a pretty extensive menu, so there's sure to be something you'll like. They have a nice salad bar, and they serve breakfast all day, but the lunch menu isn't available until 11:00.

Bundle up and ride to Kingman to join Charlie and me, or hop in the car if it's just too cold to roll the bike out. I think I'll dig out the fleece lined jeans and the electric gloves.

The weather turned out to be a bit better than I expected; still a little on the cool side, but OK for the ride to Kingman. We had fifteen people show up, on ten bikes. The bikes traveled 556 miles, one way, to Jeri's. We saw some blue sky on the ride home, but it disappeared before we got back to Wichita. It looks line winter is on the way. We'll keep meeting each Wednesday, but probably stay close to home unless we get an extremely optimistic forecast.

Charley will have photos up soon, and I'll post next week's ride by Sunday. (Gotta get as good a handle on the weather as possible...)

Photos! Good group of fellows today, (but no ladies).
A few of us enjoyed a long ride home, visiting the city of Cheney and taking a roll around Afton Lake.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
