South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, November 22, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

It looks like next Wednesday is going to be a bit chilly, but there's no chance of rain and very little wind expected. Augusta isn't too far if it's a bit cold, so we'll head to Sugar Shane's for our ride on the day before Thanksgiving. (You may want to order something other than turkey...) Shane and Tonya always like to see the ROMEOs, and the food has been good on our previous visits.

Sugar Shane's is located at the corner of 5th and State in Augusta. There's a good sized room on the south side, and we can spill over into the other areas if need be. (We pretty well packed the place the last time we were there, but our winter turnouts are a bit more modest.)

The menu is pretty varied: sandwiches and wraps, pizza, pasta, meatloaf, etc. The meatloaf sandwich I had the first time was excellent (and big,) and the chicken fried steak I had the next time was also pretty good. Everyone ought to find something to their liking. They don't open until 11:00, so if you're one of the early birds you can do some tire kicking beforehand.

Next Wednesday looks like it will be suitable for riding, but if it turns out to be too cold or nasty it's a short trip on four wheels.

We had sixteen people and, as near as I can figure, six motorcycles in Augusta today. I looked at the thirty-two degrees on my front porch thermometer, and the lack of riding companions this week, and opted for four wheels. (I'll ride on Friday when it's a bit warmer...) The bikes traveled a total of 177 miles, one way, to Sugar Shane's. It was a good day for meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Charlie will have photos up soon, and I'll post next week's ride when I get a better idea of how the weather stacks up.
