South Central Breakfast Ride: Wednesday, August 23, 9:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

One of the guys asked if we could go back to the Whistle Stop, and it's been a year since we were in Walton, so let's make it next week's destination.

Walton is only about thirty miles (and thirty minutes) from Wichita. Close enough if it's warm (or damp) but still a decent ride if you take the long way around. The food is good, there's plenty of room, and the staff is friendly.

TIME:

9:00 AM, Wednesday, August 23

PLACE:

Whistle Stop Cafe
106 W. Main
Walton, KS
(620) 837-3136

MAP:

We had another beautiful day to ride and a great turnout in Walton. Forty-seven people, on forty-five bikes, traveling 1977 miles (one way) to the Whistle Stop Cafe. My breakfast was very good, and I didn't hear any complaints from anywhere else. The cook may be suffering from exhaustion at this point, but the service seemed pretty good for a group our size.

Charlie will have some photos up soon, and I'll post next week's ride in a couple of days. Next week will be our last breakfast ride for this year; I anticipate sending the group to an old favorite, but I'll need to give them a heads-up first.

Many bikes today, but parking was here and there so I did not get all in the photos.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
