South Central Breakfast: Wednesday, July 5, 9:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

We were planning to head for Winfield next week, but it turns out that Biederman's is closed for vacation. Some of the other mom and pop places are as well, taking advantage of the mid-week Fourth of July holiday. One of our old favorites is open, however, and anxious to see us again.

We were in Beaumont for lunch a little while back, but the weather kept our numbers down. Now that the Beaumont Hotel is open early on Wednesdays, a short trip back into the Flint Hills for breakfast sounds goodto me. The folks at the Beaumont Hotel really appreciate seeing motorcycles, and the ROMEOs, and the food's pretty tasty.

Beaumont is just south of US 400, about forty-five miles east of Wichita near the Butler/Greenwood county line. It's a pleasant ride through the tail end of the Flint Hills, and the road through Latham and Cambridge is a nice detour on the way home if you want to get in a few more miles.

As always, remember that the speed limit on US400 through Leon drops to fifty miles per hour. The Leon city policeman tends to hang out on the south side of the road.

We had thirty-one people, on twenty-eight bikes, in Beaumont this morning. The bikes traveled a total of 1796 miles, one way, to the Beaumont Hotel. Good day to ride, and good food. Charlie will have photos, and I'll post next week's ride in a couple of days.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
