South Central Lunch: Wednesday, January 18, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

It looks like freezing rain for the next couple of days, but the Weather Channel says that things will be looking better next week. Wednesday's forecast calls for a high of fifty-six degrees (!) after a low of twenty-seven the night before. It looks like we should be able to ride.

We haven't been to Bentley for quite a while. The food's always good, and they enjoy seeing us. Bentley is about twenty miles from Wichita, a bit closer for those of you in the northwest part of town. (Pretty close in for the Moundridge guys, for a change, too.) It's not a long ride, but you can wander around on the way home if you want to get in a few extra miles.

The Bentley Corner Bar and Grill serves breakfast until 10:30, if you happen to get there early. At lunch they always have a special entree and a sandwich special of some kind. You can also order off the menu: burgers, chicken fried steak, salads, etc. And, there's pie for those with room for dessert.

If the weather is decent, we can bundle up and ride. If not, arrival on four wheels is permitted. When you ride with a bunch of crusty old farts, you can't razz them about showing up in a car; it seems they don't have anything left to prove... (Or maybe they've just gotten smarter over the years.)

We had an excellent turnout for a "cold winter's morning," or an "unseasonable warm day," depending on whether you remember last weekend's weather. Thirty-six ROMEOs showed up in Bentley, riding thirty-two motorcycles 1,113 miles (one-way) to the Bentley Corner Bar and Grill. The staff really hustled, and got all of us fed in short order. Charley saved duplicates of his photos on two separate memory cards, and I'm confident he'll wrestle the card reader into compliance this week. Check back for his photos later if they're not up when you read this. I'll have next week's ride announcement in a couple of days.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
