South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, November 30, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

This may be our last “normal” distance ride for a while, unless we get some unseasonably good weather in the next couple of months. Brian's been jonesin' for lunch at Carolyn's, as have many of us. It's a ROMEO favorite: good homemade food, a nice salad bar, and great desserts. The Wednesday special is pan fried chicken (the best way to fry chicken...,) but there are plenty of other choices if you're not a fried chicken fan.

We'll be in the back room again; it's probably big enough to hold our cold weather turnout. There's plenty of room in the front dining area if we need extra seats. Those who arrive a bit early (before 10:30) have the option of ordering breakfast.

Arlington is about sixty miles, or an hour's ride, from Wichita. Right now it looks like it'll be cold but dry and not much wind; good enough weather to ride if we bundle up. If it turns really cold, hop in the car.

It was about forty degrees on my front porch when we left this morning. It warmed up a bit for the trip back, and we had a tailwind. We had twenty-two people, on fifteen motorcycles and a few pickup trucks, make the ride to Arlington. The food was good, as always (grilled cheese and bacon sandwich with a nice salad.) It was good to see Gen. Bob on his feet again, although he's not back on the bike yet.

There have been some problems recently with posting photos on the forum, so I don't know if Charlie will be able to show this week's work. Jerry (our web guy) is in Mexico, with limited internet access, so it may be a few days before it's all sorted out.

I'll have next week's ride posted by Sunday. Given the current long range forecast, I'd like to wait a few days to see if the outlook for next Wednesday improves. We'll have a ride (or drive) regardless. No sense in going hungry on a Wednesday...

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
