The weatherman has be changing things up on us again. Last time I looked the high for the first part of the week was in the mid to high 40s. Now he's talking about a high of 64 on Monday. Big Jim apprised me of this and we saw the opportunity to take advantage of it. So I scheduled us for a place that we visited just a year ago.

As the weather gets colder we take as much advantage of any good riding weather we can get. Monday turned out to be the best this week, and a good day it was. We gathered at Casey's and by launch time we had an even dozen. As usual the lead bikes left and everybody else scrambled to mount up and go. We turned onto Country Club road and enjoyed the bliss of the fresh pavement. A vast improvement over the pioneer trail that it was. It was getting to the point that you couldn't traverse it with an ATV. We eventually wound our way over to old K40 and through Solomon. The ride was good until we had to go through Abilene. Not that there's anything wrong with Abilene. I just didn't want to be slowed down by a town. Enduring that we were soon back on the open road and enjoying the short ride to Detroit and the Midway bar and grill. They're great folks and always glad when we visit. There was the usual jockeying for a parking spot. Terry pulled in and quickly pulled out in favor of another spot. I swiftly moved in for the score. While I dismounted Terry pointed out the disabled parking sign that I was encroaching on. Now really! Do I look normal to you? Scurrying about I got the outdoor shots and tried to get an accurate count of the bikes. John and Emory opted to park across the road forcing me to take the long trek over the road. But that gave me the opportunity to get an over all shot of the venue. We filled all the tables and started to pack the bar. The back room only had two tables and one was a pool table. Nonetheless we did leave some room for the locals. It was great to see Duane there and doing well after his recent battle. He seems to be doing fine. I finally got my order in for their Midway burger. I think they could have brought it out on a wheel barrow. It was massive. I could have gotten one to go and invited the family over. It really hit the spot and I didn't need to cook that night. Back outside we engaged in a little more tire kicking and enjoying the weather while it lasts. As usual several of us hadn't had enough riding for the day and gathered up to take the scenic route back. I opted for the more direct route and set off. Although my ride was shorter the bike and I really got in sync and it put me back in the zone, wishing I was back on the road. Now that I have the time I don't have the money. When I had the money I still had a leash. Back hat home I could finally slip into my burger coma and reflect on a great ride.
