North Central ROMEO Weekly Ride for 11/8/17

Post by Roadpounder »

It's been a little touch and go with the weather this week and I almost called it for the temps. Earlier the forecast was for a high of 48 on Wednesday, but it was revised to 53, so I called the Farm House and set us up there. We haven't been there for well over a year and I thought it a good choice for a short ride on a cool day.

Were set up and will launch from Casey's on Ohio and Iron @ 11:30.

TIME....................12:00

Here it is.............. Mr. K's Farmhouse

The year is winding down but the weatherman has been treating us reasonably well. I've been trying to keep the rides sort of close considering the falling temperatures. Thus my choice of Mr. K's Farmhouse. I've usually found pretty good food there and a welcoming atmosphere. We gathered at our usual eastbound site of Casey's on Ohio and Iron. I rolled in desperate for fuel to feed my noble steed, so I pulled straight to the pumps. Mission accomplished I pulled in line with the bikes already there. After the earth moving chatter was done it was time to launch. Terry was in the lead and I was pleasantly surprised to find Country Club road open after the recent repaving project. I always hated taking Country Club because it was like riding over an abandoned mine field. A bone rattling ride. But they certainly corrected that. A quick jog down Simpson Road to old K40 and off to Abilene. The day was shaping up nicely weather wise and I was starting to settle into the zone and enjoying the Italian tune my bike was singing. All too soon we were pulling into Mr. K's drive and meeting the early crowd. The weather even allowed for a little tire kicking before we went inside. Filing in I was pleasantly surprised to find that they put us in the VIP room in the back. There was plenty of room as we had the whole room to ourselves. There were several specials on the menu and I opted for the lemon pepper chicken which sounded particularly good. When it came it was quite tasty except for the green beans. Green beans are evil. Not fit for human consumption. But then I like broccoli. I'm kinda weird that way. We started filtering out and one by one mounted up for the ride to our respective homes. I rolled out onto old K40 and as I ran through the gears that old feeling of hitting the road swept over me and I once again fell into the zone for the ride home. All too soon the reverie came to an end in my garage and it was time to reassure my fur buddies that I'm OK.

Get well soon Duane.
