WOO HOO!! The site is back up! I just got back from our weekly think tank, sharing our collective wisdom for the betterment of mankind.

It has been established that we will be meeting at the Iron Skillet at 10:45 for our mass exodus to Sylvan Grove. See you there.

Our web site problems have been reeking havoc on the posts. I know there are some folks still having problems but it seems to have cleared up on my computer.

It looked like it was shaping up to be a great day for a ride. Still a little cool for Leo but looking good nonetheless. I was first to the Iron Skillet, once again, but It didn't take long for others to start rolling up in. We gathered a rather good group of 8 before launch time arrived, which greatly increased the chances of success since I was reasonably sure there was someone that actually knew how to get there. Terry Powell was there, so I knew we were safe. If there's anywhere he doesn't know how to get to, it's not in Kansas. We launched, taking the simplest route. 81 north to 18 west and straight to Sylvan Grove. As usual we were not the first ones there. Delbert and a few others had beaten us to the punch. The weather was really shaping up, but the wind could have been a little more gentle. As the crowd started filtering in I went about the photo mission and a few more rolled in. Richard had called me about the route and departure time the night before. He said he might be a little late since he was planning on meeting a friend to ride up with him and there wasn't enough time to meet us at the Skillet. After the pics were taken I managed to find a seat and get my order placed. A mushroom and Swiss burger seemed particularly appetizing so they made it happen. About that time Richard walked in conspicuous by his lack of accompaniment. It appears that his riding partner for the day didn't show. Well maybe next time. My burger was the usual size but about three times the thickness. With the fries it made a filling and satisfying meal. They had one of my favorites, Shepard's Pie, but I was a little late to the game for that popular choice.
Bellies full we started to filter out and by that time the weather peaked into a perfect riding day. Naturally a good number of us hadn't had our riding itch sufficiently scratched. Somebody had their pie radar up and zeroed in on Wilson. So we made tracks for Made From Scratch for some of the best pie in Kansas. They had some of one of my favorites, pecan. After forcing that into the last remaining corner of my belly several of us joined up for the trip back home. I fell into the number two spot going back to Salina. By now my riding meter had just about reached full and by the time I pulled into my driveway I was done. Now It's just fighting off two wiener dogs that were sure that I had abandoned them. All is well.

We had riders from Salina, Chapman, Russel, Sylvan Grove, Hunter,Tipton, Denmark, Culver, Lindsborg, and Canton. It looks like Richard Kurtz and Delbert Schrienr tied for the long distance both at 97 miles.

We were riding Honda, Harley, Yamaha, BMW, CanAm, Kawasaki, and Moto Guzzi.
