North Central Kansas Lunch 12/28/16

Post by Roadpounder »

The weatherman is making encouraging noises for Wednesday so I threw caution to the wind and set up another short ride to a place we haven't been to for a while. I'm not sure I've ever been there but I know the group has. It's a quick hop down to Lindsborg and the weather should be in the low 50s and partly sunny.

TIME....................1:00

Here it is.............. Farley's Bar & Grill
101 N. Main
Lindsborg, Kansas 67456
(785) 212-6030

The weather for tomorrow is forecast to be a high of 55 and mostly sunny. I'm going to brave it and head for the Sleep Inn for a 12:30 launch. See you there.

The weatherman gave encouraging signs all week and he didn't disappoint. It was pretty cool when I got up but warmed quickly. Considering last week's good ride and the fact of it being the end of December I was shocked at the mild weather. Last week I went to Solomon on a full tank and after that ride I pretty much hunkered down in my den until this week, so I didn't consider gas to be an issue. So it took just a quick stop at the bank for some cash and it was off to the Sleep Inn for the departure rendezvous. John, Bruce, Lyle, Bud and Terry were there when I arrived and despite the warm temperature no one removed their helmet. Bud was sporting his new CanAm Spider and everyone was huddled around admiring it. I had just enough time to snap a few shots and it was time to launch. It was even warm enough for me to ride sans gloves in comfort. I wasn't in my usual state of oblivion as to the route to Lindsborg since I've been there countless times before. But as many times as I've been there there were precious few times that I've been down town. As a result I had to shift into lemming mode once we got to town. Cruising down Main Street I saw several buildings the closely resembled my memory of the picture of Farley's but my expectations were quashed when I found it to be on the opposite side of the street as expected. It must have been the snow in the picture that threw me off. Parking was a bit scattered as it seemed that downtown Lindsborg appeared to be quite popular on a Wednesday afternoon. So I hiked up and down the street searching out the bikes to shoot. Richard and Joyce were there but they couldn't stay owing to a catastrophic washer / drier failure that they needed to attend to. I offered them the use of the one I was awarded to fill in the gap but apparently it was of insufficient capacity for their needs. By the time I got inside the venue was completely saturated and there were no seats to be found. So in the mean time I scurried about snapping pictures and by the time all that was done an entire row of tables opened up and I had a place to sit. We had pretty much packed the place. By the time I finished the pictures an entire row of tables had opened up and I found a place to plant myself. Perusing the menu I settled on the double cheeseburger and fries, which were not the typical fare. They did a great job of seasoning the fries and the burger was done to perfection. We gradually filtered outside to take advantage of the great weather and solve all the worlds ills. Satisfied that the world would continue to spin for another day we gradually mounted up and headed out. I followed Diesel Dave back on Burma road completing the great circle route back to Salina.

We had a turn out of 25. Great for the end of December! We had riders from Salina, Minneapolis, Denmark, McPherson, Lindsborg, and Canton. The long distance goes to Steve Errebo from Denmark at 85 miles.

We were riding Honda, Harley, Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW, Kawasaki, Cushman, CanAm, Mail Trike, Ural, and Moto Guzzi.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
