Birthday Drive By

Jim Jefferies (AKA Little Jim) is celebrating his 80th birthday today 5/29/20. We are planning a drive by birthday greeting for him. We will meet in the parking lot of Harbor Freight at 9th and Cloud for a 6:00PM departure.

Happy birthday Jim. Many more to come.

North Central Kansas Weekly Ride 5/27/20

I've been hammering on my phone almost to the point of meltdown trying to find a place for this week's ride. It looks like most of the places I've called haven't gotten the word that the word that the 10 person limit has been lifted. That and many were closed. Well, I did manage to find a place that...

I have been sitting here burning up my phone trying to get us set up for a ride tomorrow, when Terry Powell called me and suggested the Branding Iron in Tescott. I gave them a call and we're in. They may have to split us up in two separate rooms so as not to trigger and alarm and cause a launch of t...

I heard that some restaurants are starting to open up again. I called the K-18 in Lucas and the are in fact open and were set up for a ride on Thursday , since that looks like the best weather day. WE'RE BACK! We reestablished the meeting of the minds this morning and in addition to bringing peace t...

I don't know about you, but I've about had my fill of this. The lock down is over and I need to get out before I run amok with a sledge hammer. I've been checking out some parks for another brown bag ride, and it looks like Rock City is like a good choice to get us out on the road again. If you're n...

Still under lockdown

Well it looks like out parole has been denied again! Our illustrious governor has extended the stay at home order from April 19th to May 3rd. I guess they spotted me with a satellite while I was out on a therapy ride. At this rate we won't be able ride until December. But on the other hand I'm getti...

Week 2 of house arrest!

We're into week 2 of the hunker down or else order. There sure is a lot of good riding weather going to waste. Auto parts stores are setting up barriers to keep you 6' away from the counter. Dillon's and Walmart are limiting the number of people that they allow into their stores. Toilet paper is now...

It looks like the germ police are on the march! The have issued a "Stay at home" order, under penalty of death, or something like that. I guess if you don't have a life threatening reason to be out you are under house arrest. This is supposed to last for 30 days, or more if they deem nece...

Good news for Duane Zook

Terry Powell called me to inform me that Duane has been released from the hospital. He apparently had a hernia that gave him some complications. He's back home and resting waiting to get back on the bike. He's requesting that we refrain from visiting him at home while hes recuperating but doesn't mi...

It looks like the "KUNG FLU" has our operations at a stand still. Every place I call is very noncommittal if open at all, and it looks like it will be that way for a while. Some of the other groups have curtailed their rides and some even cancelled all rides until this thing is over. It wa...

Considering the catastrophic events of last week I'm feverishly trying to figure out what went wrong. Whatever demons that have possessed my bike have entrenched themselves and I've yet to find them. I'm trying desperately trying to push one of the Goldwings over the finish line so I can attack my b...

It looks like the weatherman is in a good mood. He's promising a high of nearly 70*. Maybe even Fritz can come along. I'M PUMPED AND READY TO GO. I just got a good windfall of cash and my mortgage payment went down by $40. WOO HOO! I can eat every day this week! Usually it's just Mondays, Wednesdays...

WOO HOO!! We're back on the road! It's time to get your knees in the breeze!! Wednesday is looking great with temps in the mid 60s and sunny. I know that I'm ready. Once again old man winter is toying with us. The weekend is almost reasonable and mid week plunges us into the deep freeze. But take heart. Next week the forecast is for mid 50s and copious sunshine and I for one am looking to awaken my noble steed and venture forth in seek of new culinary delights....

I just looked at the weather for Wednesday and it's going down hill. It looks like our mid winter thaw is coming to a screeching halt. So I'm forgoing the ride for this week and hoping for better next week.

IT'S TIME FOR THE LATE NEWS. BAYRD'S WILL BE CLOSED THIS WEEK SO THE TUESDAY THINK TANK WILL BE CANCELED. I told you it was late news. I found out about it as I pulled through the empty parking lot this morning. I didn't think to check Spangle's until I was back home making breakfast....

Old man winter is holding on for all it's worth. The forecast for this week is dismal at best. Even talking about snow on Wednesday. The bears have it right. Just wake me when it's over.

No weekly ride for this week 1/29/20

Old man winter must have a real chip on his shoulder for the ROMEOs. He's hanging in for all it's worth. Wednesday is looking like a high of 40*. I'm starting to get bike withdrawals. I did manage to get my front tire changed and swap out that leaky fork seal that has been plaguing me for lo these m...
