RIDE REPORT: Oct. 23rd Kathy's Kitchen Melvern, Ks

There was a nice turnout today for our meet-up at Kathy's Kitchen in Melvern. At least 34 ROMEOS took advantage of what turned out to be a really nice day to ride. It was chilly early but warmed up into the 60's for the ride home. Don't know how many more of these riding days we'll have this season...

RIDE REPORT: October 16, Flashbacks, Tonganoxie, KS

It was a great day to be a ROMEO! At least that's what 33 folks that showed up at Flashbacks thought. It was a little chilly early but it warmed up nicely and turned out to be a really pretty fall day to ride. Some showed up a little early for breakfast and the rest decided that the chicken fried s...

LUNCH 11 AM October 16, Flashbacks, Tonganoxie, KS

We were here last in early May, we skipped a visit this summer so it's time to hit this place for fall. The weather looks pretty good, sunny with a high of 59, but the low early that morning will be about 37. So it looks like if you wait until a little later in the morning this might be a good time...

RIDE REPORT: October 2, Homestead Bakery & Restaurant, Baldwin City, KS

[cotholor=#FF8000] Although the rain clouds looked ominous this morning, for the most part the rain cleared and it turned out to be a beautiful fall day to ride. I think the threat of rain kept some home this morning but we still had at least 17 ROMEOS out this morning. There could have been some t...

Lunch 11 AM October 2, Homestead Bakery & Restaurant, Baldwin City, KS

After looking at the forecast for next week, it looks like a good chance of rain on Wednesday so I thought we ought to stay a little more centralized so if it does rain it's not too long a ride or even drivable on 4 wheels. So I took a little ride this morning to a restaurant I'd never tried and I ...

RIDE REPORT: September 25, Highway 9 Pizza & Grill, Frankfort, Ks.

The weather turned out as advertised today, an absolutely gorgeous fall day to ride. And Highways 9 and 99 didn't disappoint either, providing some of the best motorcycle riding and scenery available in Kansas. You can tell it's fall as combines are starting to move into corn fields and beans are s...

Lunch 11 AM September 25, Highway 9 Pizza & Grill, Frankfort, Ks.

We've been looking for a little more fall-like weather and it looks like we're going to see some next Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and a high of 80 degrees with temperatures in the low 60's early in the morning. Nothing seems more appropriate for a fall ride than one that involves Highway 9 or...

RIDE REPORT: September 18, Marilynn's Place, Osage City, KS

Well, it sure was a great day to be a ROMEO! AT least that's what 41 ROMEOS thought this morning when they decided to ride to Osage City for breakfastbslunch. Several went in early for breakfast but a good number hung out in the shade of the parking lot and visited and then went in and took advanta...

Lunch 11 AM September 18, Marilynn's Place, Osage City, KS

Last time we visited Marilynn's Place was back in March so it's time for our semi-annual visit. You know the drill, breakfast is available until 10:45 and then comes lunch. The lunch special next Wednesday is chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and a vegetable and I know how you all hate chicken f...

RIDE REPORT: September 11, Hell Rayzor's Roadhouse, Harveyville, KS

I didn't know what to expect today since the Fall Rendezvous was on for today, but 32 ROMEOS showed up for lunch in Harveyville today. I don't know how much hell was razed by our group but I do know there was a lot of bull shot and a whole lot of beef eaten at Hell Rayzor's today! It was a beautifu...

Lunch 11 AM September 11, Hell Rayzor's Roadhouse, Harveyville, KS

I know that some are going to be in Arkansas next week for the Fall Rendezvous but for those of us that can't attend, we still need a place to meet for lunch on Wednesday. This is a place that we have always wanted to schedule but they didn't open until noon and some didn't want to meet that late. ...

RIDE REPORT: August 7, Willie’s Hideout, Saint George, Ks

I think Willie's Hideout is doomed as a ROMEO lunch location. We have tried twice and both times it has generated a monsoon, so if I ever try to schedule this again it will be in the middle of a seven year drought with the intent to break it wide open. Even with the pouring rain, 5 ROMEOS rode in o...

LUNCH 11 AM, August 7, Willie’s Hideout, Saint George, Ks

This post may be brief since the 9” rain and a bolt of lightning that seemed about 8 feet from the end of my bed yesterday took out my cable modem and internet service so this post is coming from my iPhone. We’re going to return to a place we tried last fall for the first time and it just so happen...

RIDE REPORT: July 31, Aunt Netters Cafe, LeCompton, KS

The rain this morning was a little bit unexpected and it may have kept a few folks home this morning, but it was a blessing for those who did decide to make it out. It was delightfully cool and made for a most pleasant riding environment, although it did bring a little humidity out for those who de...

LUNCH 11 AM July 31, Aunt Netters Cafe, LeCompton, KS

Last time we were invited to Aunt Netter's house for lunch it was colder than a well digger's drill bit in January. That shouldn't be a problem this time although I don't think it will be too uncomfortable, especially if you don't take a long way home. The forecast calls for a high of 90 on Wednesd...

RIDE REPORT: July 10, Green Acres Restaurant, Vassar, KS

I think the nasty storm that built up this morning about the time everyone planned to leave this morning discouraged a lot of folks from riding, and rightly so. But 20 ROMEOS showed up this morning. George was there on his Can Am early and was drip drying when I walked in. Harry rode up just as I g...

Can't believe it's been nearly a year since we've hit Green Acres so I think it's high time we paid them a visit. As you know they serve breakfast all day but if'n you want to chow down at that wonderful chicken buffet you[ need to wait until almost 11. Also the gas company is having a meeting in t...

Sorry I didn't get this posted yesterday but a large "honey-do" list to get ready for company for dinner last night and family get-togethers for the holiday weekend sort of got in the way. Nevertheless, our visit to TenPenny in Leavenworth seemed to work out pretty well. By the time all w...

Lunch 11 AM July 3, TenPenny Bar & Grill, Leavenworth, KS

I'm going to give Swanee a break this week so he can kick back and enjoy his cigar. We're going to a place we've never been but it should be a good place to grab some lunch. Word on the street is they have the best burger in Leavenworth and they also have a house-made schnitzel special on Wednesday...

Pie Stop in Dover

Pie stop in Dover Quote Post by Ole GW » Thu Jun 27, 2019 10:47 am We stopped in Dover for pie, after a fine Westmoreland LUNCH, and noticed a sign by the door stating that pie selection was limited. After talking to the folks inside, we were informed that the lady that made all the pies passed away...
