Re: Bridgestone Tires and Freezing Temperatures

I'm voting with Swanee on this one. It would be one thing if the person said the tires were in -20 degree or more, but just sub freezing would have to be classified as normal use. I would put this one along with the magnetic baby tank bag from Aerostitch. How do you carry your grandkids on the bike...

Re: Harley "Warble" ???

I disagree with the rubber mount theory. My '03 Heritage (rigid mount motor) would flex in corners and sometimes give a little wobble going straight. The going straight wobble appeared to be a slight out of alignment of the rear wheel. Since the belt is seldom if ever tightened, if the factory has ...

Re: New Years Day Green Acres at Vassar.

Although the numbers were down due to the weather and not a bike in sight, we still had a nice time at Green Acres.. Always good to sit and talk with friends, have some good food and just relax. I will say that the group seems to be taking on a new plan for this year as not one piece of pie was bro...

Cop Story

All of us who rode bikes when we were young have stories about our interface with the local constabulary. Most of these stories were how we out tricked the police or how unfair or plain mean the police were to us. Growing up in the not so large town of Emporia, we had some not so nice officers, but...

A video sent by Big John. Could provide incentive getting out and seeing our state this coming year.

Mike, Love the Shooting Star. Is it history or in the shed? Nothing like rolling a thumper over discovering you had the ignition accidentally on to teach you humility. You are in a good area to join the Romeos. You can ride with the K.C. group on Tuesday, Eastern Kansas on Wednesday and the South E...

Roads open

For many of you this will mean little, but for those in the Topeka area it's like getting out of jail, Wanamaker of course has been open for a week or so. The Bridge between 45th and 53rd on Gage has been open for a couple of weeks Burlingame Road over the Turnpike opened today. The bridge on Aubur...

The original bank was in Tightwad Mo. The bank in Reading bought it for the name. The tornado did damage the bank in Reading, but not seriously. The owner just decided he wanted out, sold the bank and it is in business with a more normal name.

Grandpa, Bucky is right, this is a great place and sorry to see it go. Corwin told us about it before we had the website and our first ride there filled the place. No.2 said it was the best breakfast he had ever eaten. Our second ride a few months later turned to be on a misty day and only a handfu...

Slick bike Jimmy, I'd be knocking on your door if my legs were six inches longer. GSs and me just don't fit.

New Years Day Green Acres at Vassar.

I had kind of let this slip by since Bucky has been lining up the Eastern Rides. It is hard to believe but the dining room at Vassar is often reserved in July for New Years Day. Marsha said it is ours to use, so make your plans for New Years Day at Green Acres in Vassar. I told her that we aim for ...

If anyone knows Dick Roussolout, (spelled wrong I am sure) please ask him to contact me (sourdough40@hotmail.com). We are having a reunion in Emporia and he owned a shop there during the time most of us were riding dirt bikes.

Thanks

Re: British Bike Gathering 9-16-12

Thanks to all that came to our Gathering of British bikes. I had no idea what to expect and was pleased with both the turnout and more important the enjoyment factor for those that attended. Bill and Lee made the ride from Wichita, Brothers Ron And Don on their A65s from Emporia, and old Bonnie wit...

British Bike Gathering 9-16-12

This is nothing formal and no prizes or awards. Just thought it would be fun to get some of the English stuff, be it old or new, together for viewing. Triumph are actually becoming fairly popular again and of course any one that rode bikes before the eighties was either a rider of English bikes or ...

New Coordinator

You lucky folks are going to be in the hands of the master the next few weeks. Bucky has agreed to spell me as Ride Coordinator until early fall. I've been at this many years and it would just be nice to have a break for a few weeks. I will still attend most of the rides, I'll just be able to relax...

Wednesday July 25, 2012

I have been saying the last few weeks if it didn't cool down just a little that I would not post a ride. That time has came. The forecast is above 100 degrees for the high during the next 7 days which includes Wednesday. So I am holding to my statement and not posting a ride for this week. If we do...
