Re: Lunch 11 AM Dec 9, Rose's Downtown Cafe, Oskaloosa KS

Shawnee, Any thoughts on changing the meeting times during the winter months from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm? If you only live 30 miles from the average ride location, its no big deal. But for some of us that have to ride longer distances, it means departing shortly after sunrise when temperatures are stil...

Re: VOLLAND, KS ???

I know the area well. Volland is only two homes with the old store. Bob Diehl knows the store well, since his grandfather farmed a couple of miles of the east, while he lived in Alma. While there is no place to eat and barely a place to park in Volland, the restaurant in Alta Vista is open. Deb's Re...

A Veteran's Day Tribute to a Fallen Kansas Soldier

Just a reminder on this Veteran's Day, while all Veterans gave some, some gave all. SFC Robertson from Westmoreland, Kansas was a Soldier's Soldier. With five combat tours, SFC Robertson was killed in action November 3, 2013, in Pul-E-Alam, Afghanistan. His awards include the Purple Heart, a Bronze ...

Re: History of the Cassoday Bike Run

History of the Cassoday Bike Run...from the site. Yep, you got it. It was started by some bikers, stopping at a small cafe in town one day back in 1991. They were from the Christian Bikers Association, and they enjoyed the ride through the Flint Hills so much that they wanted more to enjoy it. So th...

History of the Cassoday Bike Run

http://cassodaybikerun.org/home Many of us have enjoyed riding to Cassoday for the monthly bike run. I attended my first Cassoday Bike Run shortly after moving to Kansas in 1993 while it was still only a couple hundred attendees. I was unaware that it was started by the Christian Motorcyclist Associ...

Re: 26th Annual Blue Valley Riders Poker Run - Manhattan, KS

If you plan on attending this weekends BVR Poker Ride in Manhattan, KS on Sunday, be advised that HWY 99 from I-70 to Wamego is under construction. Chances are, they won't be working on Sunday. However, the road is ground down and very rough from I-70 to the Wabaunsee/Zendale Road. Recommend using H...

Re: IRONBUTT Have you ever thought about doing an Ironbutt

The first Saddlesore 1000 that I participated in was 15 years ago with the Heartland Riders. About 20 members completed the ride to include several on open bikes. Back then, the nationwide speed limits were 55, so interstates only gained you time by not having to slow down for towns. I decided to ri...

Re: IRONBUTT Have you ever thought about doing an Ironbutt

I certainly don't agree with the dumbass remark. We didn't begin the day knowing the outcome. If we had, we would have certainly been dumbass's to continue. Hind sight is always 20/20. Once your in the snow, only a dumbass would have continued to higher elevations. We found out later there was 6 inc...

Re: IRONBUTT Have you ever thought about doing an Ironbutt

This seems like too much of a ticket punch event to me. The last IronButt event that I participated in was the Colorado Classic 1000. It was 1000 miles through the mountains that included snow, rain, 90 degree heat all in one day. They invited 125 to participate. Once the route was determined, only ...
